The Videogame Heritage Society (VHS) is a Subject Specialist Network (SSN) for digital game preservation.
The VHS is an organisation for museums, heritage institutions, videogame developers, publishers, private collectors — it is for anyone and everyone with an interest in videogame history and heritage.
As a SSN, the V.H.S. is convened and led by the National Videogame Museum alongside our partners and founder members with representatives from:
- BFI
- National Science and Media Museum Group
- Museum of London
- C64 Audio
- Centre for Computing History
- Bath Spa University
- The RetroHour Podcast
- The British Library
The VHS provides advocacy, support and expertise on the preservation of videogames, digital games and digital game culture throughout the network.
The VHS convenes meetings, runs outreach events and programmes, and currently hosts “The VHS Tapes” — a discussion series on the challenges of digital game preservation with members of our SSN community.
